Children's Home Society of Florida

On the front lines for kids since 1902, Children's Home Society of Florida protects kids from suffering abuse or neglect, helps to heal the pain of children and teens who've been traumatized and victimized, and empowers families to lead stable, fulfilling, healthy lives. Children's Home Society of Florida also guides teenagers in foster care toward paths of responsible, positive decision-making so they may break harmful generational cycles of abuse and family destruction, enabling them to pursue productive, self-sufficient, meaningful lives. Recognizing the diversity of communities and families, Children's Home Society of Florida provides programs and services - such as Evans Community School – that meet the unique needs of communities throughout the state. Children's Home Society of Florida is driven to ensure more children grow up safe, healthy and prepared for life. Website | Facebook | Twitter
University of Central Florida

University of Central Florida

The University of Central Florida is a major metropolitan university now ranked second in the nation in student enrollment. UCF strives to be a leading partnership university and its College of Health and Public Affairs embodies this mission. The college is leading UCF's efforts to establish community schools in Central Florida, beginning with Evans Community School. The college is facilitating the development and strategic planning of the school, as well as contributing technical expertise in building community partnerships. The college also is coordinating the placement of UCF interns at the community school and the contributions of other UCF colleges, including the College of Education. UCF's role in founding Evans Community School is unlike any other relationship between a university and a community school. In other university-community school partnerships, the university participates after the school is established. UCF is playing a unique role by helping to found the community school itself.
